Luca Wickens returns to Cornwall PFC

Cornwall PFC is delighted to confirm that Luca Wickens is coming out of retirement to rejoin the club for the upcoming season.

Luca first tried powerchair football in 2010, at the age of seven, and quickly discovered a passion for the sport. By the age of ten he was playing nationally with Celtic Storm (Cornwall) before moving on to Villa Rockets. During the 2014/15 season he competed in the East Midlands Regional League and was voted one of the Premiership division’s Most Valuable Players.

In the following season he became Villa Rockets’ top goal scorer before making the mid-season move to West Bromwich Albion’s Throstles side. Over the course of five years with WBA he developed as a player under some of the country’s strongest competitors. His achievements included selection for the FA’s England Development Pathway and being part of the England squad that won the EPFA Nations Cup in 2017. He was also named Manager’s Player of the Season in 2018/19.

Luca’s impact has been recognised locally as well as nationally. He was awarded Torbay Parasports Athlete of the Year in 2015 and Community Performer of the Year for Inclusive Sport at the Devon Sports Awards in 2016.

Cornwall PFC welcomes Luca back to the club and looks forward to seeing him bring his experience, energy and talent back onto the court.
